Joseph John Kuhn Sr.

Liberty Township - Joseph John Kuhn Sr. 90, passed away peacefully at 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the St. Joseph Health Center just one month from the death of his dear wife Marlene. Joe was born in Niles, Ohio on March 3, 1931 the son of Michael J. and Mary (Csubak) Kuhn Sr.and has lived in this area all his life.

Joe was a 1949 graduate of Niles McKinley High School where he played football, basketball, and ran track for the Dragons. He was a lifelong member of Saint Stephen Church in Niles. He retired in 1993 as an inspector with the former RMI Company following 38 years of faithful service. Joe enjoyed working outdoors and meticulously caring for his yard and home. He liked listening to Hungarian czardas music.

The caption next to Joe's picture in his high school yearbook said "The friends of my friends are my friends." That statement remained true throughout his life. He was a fun person and always "the life of the party." People liked to be in Joe's company and listen to his many stories. He brought a smile to the faces of all who knew him.  Joe especially cherished the time he and Marlene could spend with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially those in which his sons and grandchildren participated. Joe and Marlene will be deeply missed and forever remembered!

Joseph is survived by four sons, Joseph (Cathie) Kuhn Jr. of North Ridgeville, Thomas (Carol) Kuhn Sr. of Warren, Richard (Jodi) Kuhn of Prosper, Texas, Kenneth (Mary) Kuhn of Warren; twelve grandchildren; Tom (Julie) Kuhn Jr., Eddie (Mandy) Kuhn, Nic Grabosky, Julie (Zack) Robey, Maddie (Austin) Jones, Tyler (Michelle) Kuhn, Abbey (Cliff) Mo, Beau (Tara) Kuhn, Dylan Kuhn, Emma Kuhn and twins Aly Kuhn and Ryan Kuhn; 10 great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart Marlene Anne Craley Kuhn whom he married April 7, 1951 and who passed away on January 24, 2022. Also preceding him in death were nine siblings; Betty Bokone, Helen Soltesz, Mary Ann Fabian, Michael J. Kuhn Jr., Ernest Kuhn, Michael Kuhn, Mary Kuhn, Helen Kuhn, Irene Jane Rafter.

A private Service of Christian Burial was held on Sunday afternoon February 27, 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles. Burial was in St. Stephen Cemetery.
