NILES - Joseph R. Molinari, 91, died on Wednesday morning April 6, 2016 at the St. Joseph Health Center.
He was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania on May 16, 1924 the son of Anthony and Delfina (Perini) Molinari.
He was a 1949 graduate of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown College and taught in the Columbiana School System. He honorably served in the United States Army during World War II as a bandsman playing the clarinet and was a bugler playing "taps". Joe traveled the country during the "Big Band" era in the 1940's and 1950's and played with "Big Band" leaders like Blue Barron and Claude Thornhill. He was a 41 year member of the Packard Band. He later ventured into real estate and many small businesses including Crest Motels Inc., McKinley Music School and the Green Acres Par 3 "Game of a Lifetime". Joe enjoyed traveling around the world especially to Europe and Italy and was a lifetime member of St. Stephen Church.
Joseph is survived by three sons, Joseph (Joan) Molinari II of Youngstown, Richard (Barbara) Molinari of McDonald, Ronald (Tracy) Molinari of Mineral Ridge; five grandchildren, Joseph III, Richard, Jennifer, Ronnie, Angelina.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella "Molly" Nicola Molinari whom he married on May 22, 1947 and who died on December 11, 2011; brother, Nicholas Molinari and a sister, Esther Benigas.
A Service of Christian Burial will be Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friend may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. James Korda will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church.
