Joseph F. Williams, 82, passed away on Sunday evening July 5, 2026 at his home.
He was born July 28, 1943 in Warren, Ohio the son of Ralph L. and Agnes (Stuhldreher) Williams and lived in this community all his life. He was a 1961 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish – Saint Stephen Church, Niles FOP Lodge No. 27 and the Knights of Columbus Niles Council 1681.
Joe was a retired police officer with the Niles Police Department. He enjoyed going to the casinos, reminiscing and telling stories about his days with the Niles police. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by a daughter, Kristen Wolfe of Niles; six grandchildren, Dawn Shaulis (Dan Craver) of Columbus, Darrin Shaulis of Hebron, Kentucky, Ryan (Ashley) Wolfe of Columbus, Joseph (Jennifer) Williams Jr. of Warren, Jeffrey (Sabrina) Williams of Niles, Joshua Williams (Lydia Johnson) of Warren; eight great grandchildren, Carmen Craver, Bryson Williams, Aurora Mechling, Fiona Williams, Evelyn Williams, Haley Williams, Aria Wolfe, Luca Wolfe; sister, Agnes Noble of Niles; along with a bonus great grandson, Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann L. (Stabile) Williams whom he married on June 8, 1963 and who passed away on August 10, 2021; Son Joseph J. Williams Sr.; and two brothers Ralph and Howard Williams.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday July 10, 2026 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 11, 2026 at Saint Stephen Church preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Rev. Leo Wehrlin will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
