Joyce Renee (Thomas) Cormell

Joyce Renee Cormell , 69, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday morning August 3, 2024 in her home. Renee was born in Warren, Ohio on May 16, 1955 the daughter of Vearl W. and Barbara S. (Holbrook) Thomas. She was a 1973 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and resided in McDonald for many years.

She was employed as a caregiver, home healthcare aide and various other roles in allied health, as well as a cook and waitress. Her greatest role was mother and grandmother as she helped care for her youngest three grandchildren.

Renee enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and watching movies. She especially cherished the time spent with her loving family.

Renee is survived by her husband Donald S. Cormell whom she married on August 4, 1973; two sons, Michael (Tricia) Cormell of Boardman, Thomas (Melissa) Cormell of Niles; four grandchildren, Jordyn (Kyle) Young, Logan Cormell, Mason Cormell, Caroline Cormell; two great grandchildren, Easton and Wren Young; two sisters, Pam (John) Gargano of Niles, Rita (Merle) Smith Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi; two sisters-in-law, Nina Thomas of Niles, Nancy Cormell of Youngstown and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Deanna Thomas and brother, James Ray Thomas.

Calling hours will be noon to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday August 10, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Service of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. by Deacon Frank Marino.
