Kathleen M. Black, 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 24, 2026 surrounded by her loving family and following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Warren, Ohio on February 7, 1967 the daughter of Paul J. and Betty Jean (Vaccaro) Scriven Sr. She was a 1985 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a life long resident of the Niles community. She was a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish – Saint Stephen Church in Niles.
Kathleen loved and cherished her family and family get-togethers especially during holidays and other celebrations. She enjoyed the outdoors and nature that God has given to us. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and listening to music.
Kathleen is survived by her husband Robert Black whom she married on April 16, 1999; two sons Craig James (Cristen) Comanescu of Cortland, Paul (Vickie) Comanescu of Niles; seven grandchildren, Lauryn, Jennica, Kylin, Nico, Paul Jr., Cambria, Brooke; two sisters, Diane Hilas (Stanley Henry) of Warren, Karen (Ron) Browne of Jeromesville; two nephews Mickey (Sarah) Moyer of Burghill, Chris Moyer of Warren; a great niece, great nephews and many friends, all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Sean J. Scriven, Edward Scriven and Paul J. Scriven Jr.
Calling hour will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday February 27, 2026 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Stephen Church. Rev. Leo Wehrlin will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery.
