Kenneth Lee Dawson

NILES - Kenneth Lee Dawson Jr., 77, died at 9:00 a.m. on Monday March 28, 2016 at Vista Care at the Ridge. He was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on August 2, 1938 the son of Kenneth Lee and Thelma (Neil) Dawson Sr. A graduate of McKeesport High School, he honorably served in the United States Navy on the USS Donner and the USS Toznik. Ken retired in 2002 from General Motors after working 30 years in the electrical and maintenance departments (WEMR). He was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church and enjoyed drag racing and bowling. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he also loved animals and birds. Ken is survived by his wife Shirley (Johnson) Dawson whom he married in 1973; daughter, Kendra (Michael) Yaratch of Howland; son, Ken Dawson of McDonald; step-daughter, Tina (Joseph) Jackson of Howland; two step-sons, Mark Ciriello of Niles, Brian (Alma) Ciriello of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Abigail Yaratch, Michaela Yaratch; ten step-grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; brother, Eugene Dawson of White Oak, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Janice (Jerry) Finley of Ligonier, Pennsylvania, Shirley Murin of Eureka, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Anthony Ciriello who died in 2007. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
