Leah J. Kaniclides

NILES - Leah J. Kaniclides, 81, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 6:03 a.m. on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at the Select Specialty Hospital, at St. Elizabeth Health Center Youngstown. Leah was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 4, 1940 the daughter of William and Frances (Tylasky) Ross and has lived in this area all her life.

Leah was a Rayen High School graduate, an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Niles and was employed as the department manager for Cooks Department Store, Austintown and Kings Department Store Niles with a total of over 20 years of faithful service. She enjoyed collecting angels, visiting Mackinac Island and Frankenmuth, Michigan. Leah enjoyed the years at the family cottage at Lake Milton both boating and water skiing. She was an active volunteer for the Mount Carmel church festival, Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Blessed Mother Society at the church. With a group of friends, she traveled to Germany, Italy and several other foreign countries.

Leah is survived by her husband, George Kaniclides whom she married June 16, 1975, two sons, Anthony Kaniclides of Youngstown, James (Gayle) Kaniclides of Boston, Massachusetts, two granddaughters, Amanda Kaniclides of Seattle, Washington, Marissa Kaniclides of Denver, Colorado, two brothers, Carl (JoAnn) Ross of Canfield, William (Elizabeth) Ross of North Jackson, two sisters, Judy (Richard) Henry of North Canton, Audrey (James) Keller of Ft. Collins, Colorado, sister in law Helen Menegos of Akron, brother in law Terry Keeley Sr. of Niles, many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.  Leah was preceded in death by her parents, son, Andrew Kaniclides, brother, Carmen Ross, and sister in law, Madeline Keeley.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles and Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 with the Rev. Lubomyr Zhybak officiating. Burial will follow at the Niles City Cemetery.
