Lester Porter

NILES - Lester Porter, 78, passed away at 4:36 pm on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born in Carter County, Kentucky on April 13, 1934 the son of George and Mary (Boggs) Porter and moved to Niles in 1957. He retired in 1995 after working 15 years as a shear operator at Livi Steel and also was a self-employed carpenter by trade.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, camping and traveling.  He especially cherished the time spent with family activities. Lester is survived by his wife, Lucille (Wagoner) Porter whom he married on December 22, 1956; three sons, Talmadge Porter of Weathersfield Township, Carl (Veronica) Porter Sr. of Niles, Tim (Tina) Porter of Niles; six grandchildren, Monique (Mike) Buckner of Mineral Ridge,Timie "TT" (David Petrella) Porter, Carl Porter Jr., Harry Porter, Ashley Porter, Molli Porter all of Niles; six sisters, twin Ester Barker of Indiana, June Conn of Indiana, Hazel Conn of Austintown, Clarice Reynolds of Mansfield, Sue Bledsoe of Niles, Jewel Tomlin of Niles; two brothers, Gary Porter of Niles, Willard Porter of Olive Hill, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Faye Porter, who died on February 28, 1998, Brenda Kay Porter, who died on March 15, 2009; two sisters, Infant Joyce Ann Porter, Nellie Gilliam and a brother, Wade Porter. Calling Hours will be Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm and Monday, April 1, 2013 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.  The Funeral will be Monday, April 1, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.  Dwayne Moore will officiate.  Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
