Louie Edward Oakley, 80, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Monday February 6, 2023 at the Hospice House in Poland following a brief illness. He was born in Brinegar, Kentucky on March 27, 1942 the son of Herman and Dorothy (Hall) Oakley.
Louie honorably served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963 and retired from General Motors Lordstown. He was a member of the Galilee Apostolic Church in Austintown, the McDonald Lions Club and many other community organizations. He loved being and working outdoors and helping people. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed visiting and talking on the phone with his family.
Louie is survived by a daughter, Amy Jane Oakley of Avon Lake; two sisters, Sarah Jane Carver of Mansfield, Arlene (Glennis) Porter of Mansfield and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years Lucille S. (Creech) Oakley whom he married on November 24, 1966 and who died on December 24, 2022; four brothers, Jimmy Oakley, Simpson Oakley, Wilford Oakley, Bill Oakley and two sisters, Lenora Catron, Linda Carter.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday February 10, 2023 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at noon at the funeral home. Rev. Garey McCartney will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery with military honors provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Galilee Apostolic Church, 3939 Potomac Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44515.
