Margaret I. Cochran

April 16, 1919 — September 20, 2016

NILES - Margaret I. Cochran, 97, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday September 20, 2016 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home. She was born in Howland Township, Ohio on April 16, 1919 the daughter of Elmer and Hazel Lena (King) Hake. She was a graduate of Howland High School where she ran track, played softball and was a member of the State Championship basketball team. For over forty years she worked in the meat department at Macali's Giant Eagle in Niles. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking, cooking, vegetable gardening and her pets. Margaret is survived by a grandson, William E. "Ed" Cochran Jr. of Howland; two great grandsons, William E. (Samuel) Carr of Howland, Michael Morrel Jr. of New York. She was preceded in death by her husband William F. Cochran whom she married on January 17, 1941 and who died on March 5, 1997; son and daughter in law, William E. and Hazel Cochran Sr. and a brother, Harry Hake. Calling Hours will be Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Brandis will officiate. Burial will be in Howland Township Cemetery. The family gratefully appreciates the kind and compassionate care provided to Margaret throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County 812 Youngstown - Kingsville Road, vienna, Ohio 44473.
