Margaret Mae Krok

July 29, 1919 — February 24, 2013

NILES - Margaret Mae Krok, 93, passed away peacefully at 10:00 am on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home. She was born in Niles on July 29, 1919 the daughter of John J. and Minnie (Shirokman) Pirgyi Sr.and lived in this community all her life. Margaret was a 1937 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and the class historian. She was co-founder in 1948 with her husband, Gay, of Krok Printing in Niles.  After his retirement in 1980 she continued to partner with her son Richard in the business until becoming ill in January.  An active member of St. Stephen Church, she was involved in many parish works for over seventy years.  She was in charge of the Catholic Charities Campaign for 18 years, an Eucharistic Minister, a board member of the Catholic Social Service, past president of the Niles Catholic Womens Club, past president of the Catholic Action Guild and past officer with St. Stephen Home and School Association and The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a volunteer with the Red Cross, Niles Community Services and received the 2006 Valley Legacy Award along with her husband. She enjoyed flower arranging, traveling and reading. Margaret is survived by daughter, Judee Krok of Niles; son, Richard (Rochelle) Krok of Howland; three grandsons, Christopher (Jennifer) Ahern, Randall Krok, Travis Krok; two great grandchildren, Makenna and Chase Ahern; close friend, Jack Calhoun; brother, William (Joretta) Pirigyi Sr. of Niles; special niece, Joyce Crank of Niles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gay Krok whom she married on March 30, 1940 and who passed away on July 23, 2010 and two brothers, John and Arnold Pirigyi. Calling Hours will be Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 10:30 am to 11:45 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Stephen Church.  Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Stephen School Tuition Angel Fund.
