Mary C. Griffin

MINERAL RIDGE - Mary C. Griffin, 96, passed away peacefully at 10:49 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Hampton Woods in Poland following an extended illness. Mary was born in Salem, Ohio on July 27, 1920 the daughter of George B. and Helen C. (Harrington) Shriver and lived in Trumbull County since 1944. She was a 1938 graduate of Salem High School and the Choffin School of Practical Nursing. She retired in 1992 after working 27 years as a licensed practical nurse at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Mary was a member of Saint Stephen Church, Niles Catholic Womens Club and the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Retirees Club. After retirement she was a hospital volunteer and a member of the hospital's Camillus Pastoral Care. She also enjoyed traveling. Mary is survived by four sons, Patrick J. (Ella) Griffin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dennis G. (Kathy) Griffin of Corvallis, Oregon, Gary C. (Margaret) Griffin of San Jose, California, William P. (Susan) Griffin of Kinsman; two grandchildren, Corinna Griffin of Poland, Kyle L. Griffin of Mineral Ridge; seven step grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Carl J. Griffin whom she married January 15, 1944 and who died February 28, 1959; daughter, Susan M. Griffin who died on May 9, 2003; brother, James Shriver and a sister, Catherine McWilliams. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Stephen Church preceded by 10:45 a.m. prayer service at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Family and friends may also visit from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saint Stephen Cemetery.
