MINERAL RIDGE - Mary Elizabeth Welch 77, passed away peacefully at 5:39 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge following an extended illness. Mary Elizabeth was know by her family and friends as Beth and was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 8, 1941 a daughter of David and Elizabeth Marie (Ritteger) Jackson.
Beth was a 1960 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was an inspector at the Niles Plant of the General Electric Company. She enjoyed fishing and tap dancing. Over the years, Beth was a very religious person and the Catholic Church was central to her life. She was a member of a Rosary group and attended several churches to pray the rosary.
Beth is survived by a daughter, Maribeth (Adam) Ahne of Snohomish, Washington; two grandchildren Joel Ahne of Shohomish, Washington, Michelle Stamper of Wilmington, North Carolina; brother, Thomas E. (Barbara) Jackson of Niles; many nephews, nieces and cousins. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Stamper on November 13, 1973, Robert Lee Stamper on March 23, 1991 and a brother John D. Jackson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at St. Stephen Church with the Rev. James Korda officiating. Calling hours will be at 9 to 10 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery.
