BROOKFIELD - Mary Ann Zendarski, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening June 24, 2014 in the emergency room at Elyria Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Warren on December 20, 1948 the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Sabo) Lengyel.
She was a 1967 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and received a Bachelors of Science in Education Degree from Kent State University in 1988. In 1989 she began her teaching career at St. James Elementary School in Warren. After one year, she joined St. Stephen Elementary School in Niles where she taught second grade until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed reading and loved sports especially the Cleveland Indians. Most of all, she cherished the time spent and was devoted to her two grandchildren.
Mary Ann is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Patrick) Pulig of Elyria; son, Scott Zendarski of Brookfield; two grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Uszak; several nieces and nephews including a nephew, Terry Patrick of Conway, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Patrick, Eleanor Michael and a brother, Michael Lengyel who died in World War II.
The Service of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will officiate. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
