NILES - Richard W. "Dick" Brown, 81, joined eternal peace on Saturday morning April 9, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family.
He was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on August 4, 1934 the son of Charles and Josephine (Stadler) Brown. He was a 1952 graduate of Windham High School where he played basketball and continued his studies at Kent State University.
He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of St. Stephen Church. He retired in 1999 after working 43 years in the data processing department at Taylor Winfield Corp. Golf was a passion of his for many years, he enjoyed coaching baseball and was an avid Ohio sports fan. He loved traveling and vacationing in the south. Most of all Dick will be remembered for his mild manner, heart of gold, good sense of humor and quick wit.
After High School, Dick met the love of his life of 59 years and on June 15, 1957 married Carolyn Rinaldi Brown. They raised four sons, Mark (Mary) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida, Rick (Sandy) Brown of Cortland, Chris (Kelly) Brown of Warren, Matt (Traci) Brown of McDonald. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Kayla, Corey, Alexa, Alyssa, Connor, Madison and Brooklyn.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where the St. Stephen Bereavement Ministry will have a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Church. Rev. James Korda will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Windham Township Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church or American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
