Richard L. Tock

February 1, 1937 — January 11, 2014

NILES - Richard L. "Dick" Tock, 76, died at 8:40 am on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Hospice House following a lengthy illness with cancer. He was born in Warren on February 1, 1937 the son of James E. and Hazel E. (Round) Tock and lived in this community his entire life. He was a 1955 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and retired in 1985 as a licensed plumber and owner of Tock's Plumbing. He also retired as a State of Ohio Plumbing Inspector. He was a member and officer of the Plumber and Pipe Fitters Local 225 of Warren. Dick was very active in the Niles Community. He was a life time member of St. Stephen Church where he served as a Lector and a former member of the Parish and Finance Councils. His memberships included the High School Reunion Committee, Niles Churches for Housing, Interfaith Churches for Housing, Niles Bicentennial Chorus, Niles Kiwanis Club where he also served as President and he was a Niles City First Ward Councilman. He enjoyed spending mornings at the Eastwood Mall, walking, having coffee and talking to his Mall Walking friends. He was an avid gardener, growing prize winning tomatoes and flowers. Most of all he cherished the time spent and activities with his grandson. Dick is survived by his wife, Jane H. (Hannon) Tock whom he married on February 4, 1961; two daughters, Maureen E. Tock of Columbus, Marilyn F. Tock Schneider of Lakewood and a grandson, Mitchell E. Schneider of Lakewood. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret M. Tock who died on November 22, 1970; brother, Edward J. Tock and two sisters, Sarah "Sally" Leonard, Margaret "Peg" Boyle. Calling Hours will be Monday, January 13, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm and Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 9 to 9:45 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House, Hospice of the Valley or Autism Speaks 1060 State Rd, 2nd floor, Priceton, NJ 08540.
