GIRARD - Robert M. Hunter, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 2:35 a.m. on Monday May 25, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Canton on December 15, 1926 the only child of Robert M. and Grace M. (Hoobler) Hunter.
He honorably served in the United States Army during World War II and retired as a truck driver for Niles Iron and Metal. He enjoyed model trains, woodworking, bowling, skating, visiting car shows, demolition derbies and watching wrestling.
Robert is survived by four children, Carol (Ronald) McConnell with whom he made his home in Girard, Robert Hunter of Girard, Roberta (Leonard) Holbrook of Youngstown, John Howard of Warren; 14 grandchildren, DeWayne, Candi, Ronald, Courtney, LaTonya, Anthony, Chyrl, Tricia, Cassie Rose, Bobbi Jo, Nikki, Bobby, Angelina, Keith and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four grandchildren, Ashley, Reva, Leonard, Johnny and one great grandson, Jaden.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
