Robert E. ”Murph” Miller, 91, passed away from complications following surgery at 12:09 a.m. on Friday May 1, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 26, 1935 in Wheeling, West Virginia the son of Leo F. and Catherine (Kudlak) Miller.
Murph was a graduate of Wheeling High School and attended West Liberty State College. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1990 after working thirty years as a tow motor operator at Packard Electric. He and his wife were the owners of Starlite Ceramic Molds in Niles. He was a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish – Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing on several leagues and playing cards at the Niles Senior SCOPE Center Wednesday Card Club. He was coach of the Niles Mustangs Youth Football team and also coached youth baseball in Niles.
He is survived by two sons, Murphy (Lora) Miller of Port Charlotte, Florida, Alan (Nancy) Miller of Canfield; daughter, Aimee (Albert) Cantola of Howland; six grandchildren, Thomas (Maura) Cantola, Larissa (Cameron) Betts, Rae (Sage) Keiser, Murphy (Braley) Miller, Sarah Miller, Connor Miller; six great grandchildren, Thomas, Lincoln, Kaiden, Brooks, Liam, Sophie; sister, Mary Ann Snyder of Delaware, Ohio; companion dog Stella.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marianne E. McCabe Miller whom he married on October 19, 1957 and who passed away on October 27, 2019; son, Timothy Miller; brother, Leo Miller and sister, Rosella Schneid.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 5, 2026 and from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Rev. Leo Wehrlin will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery.
