Susan Kathleen Bendel

NILES - Susan Kathleen Bendel, 70, passed away on Monday morning April 7, 2014 at her residence following a short illness. She was born in Youngstown on October 3, 1943 the daughter of Erwin J. and Marguerite (Vahey) Bendel. She graduated in June of 1964 from the Youngstown Hospital Association where she became a Registered Nurse. She served as the Director of Nursing at several facilities starting at the Northside Hospital, University Hospital in Cleveland, Mason Woods and Shepherd of the Valley in Niles and Boardman. She retired in January of 2009. She was a member of St. Christine Church. Susan is survived by her sister, Janice E. Bendel with whom she made her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard P. Dunn. A Memorial Service will be held this summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
