Verneen E. O'Neil , 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 12, 2025 at her home following an extended illness. She was born in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1940 the daughter of Charles and Glenola (Cloud) Welch.
A devoted homemaker, Verneen found joy in cooking, traveling and going on casino trips with her family. A lifelong animal lover, she shared a deep and genuine bond with every creature she encountered. She was a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish - Saint Stephen Church.
A woman of remarkable strength and boundless compassion, Verneen was the cornerstone of her family - a steady pillar of love, wisdom, and unwavering support. With her quick wit and sharp sense of humor, she had a gift for lifting spirits and bringing light to even the heaviest days.
Her spirit lives on in the way she taught all who knew her to love fiercely, laugh freely and face life with resilience and grace.
She is survived by her daughter, Patti (Rodney) Remsey of Howland; her son-in-law, Erik Brandt with whom she made her home; her grandchildren, Shannon (Jacob) Danes, Rachel Tarr and Evan Landgraff, Christopher Brandt and Allyssa Micsky, and Rileigh Remsey; and her sister, Jacora Miller.
Verneen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. O'Neil whom she married September 25, 1965 and who passed away on September 12, 2004; daughter Connie Ann Brandt who passed away on May 25, 2025 and a brother Gary Vinas.
Honoring Verneen's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. She will be buried privately next to her husband in the Girard City Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are by the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles.
