Virginia M. (Demaret) Swegan

Virginia M. (Demaret) Swegan , 94, passed away peacefully at 3:34 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge. Virginia was born in Warren, Ohio on June 28, 1930 the daughter of George and Virginia D. (Derville) Demaret and has lived in this area all her life.

Virginia was a patient escort for Warren General Hospital for over 21 years and retired July 18, 1994. She was a Warren G. Harding high school graduate, an active member of the Niles First Christian Church, a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose and a 21 gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross, Trumbull County Chapter. Virginia was very generous of her time in helping others and for many years enjoyed camping at the former Ponderosa Camp ground.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Dorothy J Maffitt, and two sons Dale R. Swegan and James R. Swegan.

Virginia is survived by three sons: George R. Swegan, of Warren, Leslie R. Swegan of Niles, Thomas R. Swegan of Madeira Beach, Florida, daughter; Elaine R. Wood of Niles, 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at the Niles First Christian Church on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Christopher Stark officiating, a luncheon will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. At Virginia's request, a private burial will be held in Kerr Cemetery.
