Virginia May Scaggs

NILES - Virginia May Scaggs, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness. Virginia was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on March 13, 1929 the daughter of Charles Theodore and Elva Juanita (Dixon) Oliver and came to the Niles area many years ago.

Virginia was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School and an active member of the Niles First Baptist where she taught Sunday School Classes for over 40 years. She was also active in many of the other church activities. Many years ago she was a sales clerk for over 10 years at the Woolworths Department Store in downtown Niles and the Eastwood Mall.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Scaggs whom she married July 24, 1949 and who died on January 7, 2001; her daughter Jamie L Scaggs who died on December 5, 1971; brother Cleve Oliver and sister Caroline Nichols.

Virginia is survived by son, Jeffery Scaggs with whom she lived; two daughters, Sydney Scaggs and Drew Six both of Niles; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Nickelson of New York.
