Dr. Yogesh O. Sheth, M.D., passed away on his 88th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 22, 1938, in Mumbai, India, one of eight children born to the late Ochhavlal and Manigauri Sheth. In 1967, after completing his medical education at Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, Karnataka, India, he came to the United States with a dream of building a better life for himself. He fulfilled that dream through an extraordinary career in medicine, successful private practices, and a family that meant everything to him.

From the age of six, following the loss of his mother, Dr. Sheth developed an interest in medicine that would become his lifelong calling. He went on to pursue his dream of becoming a physician, ultimately earning the respect and admiration of generations of patients throughout Niles and Warren, Ohio. Medicine was far more than a profession to Dr. Sheth; it was his passion, and caring for others was at the very heart of who he was.

After completing his medical residency at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Sheth moved to Warren, Ohio. A couple of years later, he opened his own internal medicine practice in Niles, Ohio, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025. Years later, he took over another practice in Warren, Ohio. He joined the medical staff at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, where he went on to serve as Chief of Staff and President of the Medical Staff. He was also active staff at Warren General Hospital and St. Joe’s. For nearly 60 years, he devoted himself to his patients, earning a reputation for his exceptional diagnostic skills, unrivaled intellect, and compassionate bedside manner. Many of his patients, who also became lifelong friends, affectionately referred to him as “Doc” or “Yogi,” reflecting the lasting relationships he built throughout his career. No matter what was happening in his life, little could keep him away from the work he loved. He continued seeing patients until just days before his passing, a testament to the dedication and passion that defined his life.

Dr. Sheth was a member of the Trumbull County Medical Society, Ohio State Medical Association, American Medical Association, American Society of Internal Medicine, and American College of Physicians. He served on the Board of Trustees of the American Heart Association, was a member of the teaching faculty at NEOMED, and served as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Ross University. He also authored numerous publications throughout his career, sharing his knowledge and contributing to the medical profession he loved so deeply.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Sheth was active in his community. He served as president of the India Association of Greater Youngstown, chaired the political action committee and pharmacy committee, and participated in the cardiac catheterization committee.

While in Mumbai, Yogesh met Usha Shah, and they married on November 28, 1966. Together, they built a loving marriage spanning almost 60 years and a family that became the center of Yogesh’s world. As much as he loved medicine, he was equally devoted to his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. He adored Usha, his three children, and his nine grandchildren, who held the most special places in his heart. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by those he loved.

One of Yogesh’s greatest joys was having all three of his children return to Warren after completing their studies. He was thrilled that they lived not only in the same town but also in the same neighborhood. He made his home with his daughter, Shibani, and her family, and he could look out his bedroom window and see the homes of his daughter, Sheffali, and his son, Sanjay. Having his family so close brought him immeasurable happiness and reflected what mattered most to him.

Family was everything to Yogesh. He shared exceptionally close bonds with all seven of his siblings, all his in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He would travel anywhere in the world if it meant spending time with the people he loved. His family was his greatest accomplishment and the legacy he cherished above all else. He traveled to Mumbai, India, annually to visit family, a tradition he continued until approximately 10 years ago.

Yogesh was truly one of the happiest people you could meet. He was known for his warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering belief in others. He had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone and always believed in people's potential, often encouraging them to believe in themselves, too. His kindness, optimism, and genuine care for others extended far beyond his medical practice and touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He had a lifelong love of learning and enjoyed a wide range of interests, including cars, swimming, tennis, table tennis, playing cards, astronomy, music, and action movies. He had an interest in flying and obtained his pilot's license. He also enjoyed entertaining and socializing. He had a passion for politics and loved hosting campaign events. For many years, his home became a hub for political gatherings where he welcomed friends and community members, reflecting his commitment to civic involvement.

In addition to his love of medicine, Yogesh had an entrepreneurial spirit and was involved in a variety of successful business ventures, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Most notably, in 1986, he founded Station Square Ristorante in Liberty, Ohio, and was also an owner of Vienna Short Holes Golf Course. He also owned several gift stores in California along with his brother. His curiosity, ambition, and willingness to pursue new interests reflected the many dimensions of his remarkable life. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family, the greatest legacy he and Usha built together. The memories they created, the values he instilled, and the love he shared will remain with his family forever.

Yogesh leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, kindness, and unwavering love. He fulfilled his dream of building a life in America, devoted nearly six decades to caring for others, and found his greatest happiness in the family he cherished. He will be remembered not only for the lives he touched as a physician but also for his beautiful smile, generous heart, and extraordinary ability to make others feel valued and believed in. He will also be remembered for his foresight and ability to see into the future. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the hearts of all who loved him.

Left to forever cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Usha; his children, Drs. Sheffali Nadler (Sergio), Attorney Shibani Massacci (Dante), and Drs. Sanjay Sheth (Ramona); his beloved grandchildren, Dr. Nikhil Nadler (Shelly), Attorney Nolan Nadler (Marissa), Nathan Nadler, Dylan Massacci, Sarina Massacci, Saumya Sheth, Shayna Massacci, and Safiya Sheth; two brothers; two sisters; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends, all of whom meant the world to him.

In addition to his parents, Yogesh was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, five brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, several nephews, a niece, and his beloved grandson, Sarosh, whose recent passing was a profound loss to the family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the SICU medical team at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Hospital as well as Expand Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they showed Dr. Sheth and his family during their difficult time. Their dedication and support will always be deeply appreciated.
