Beatrice J. "Bea" Stiver, 91, passed away peacefully at 7:33 a.m. on Friday May 6, 2022 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Howland. She was born in Warren, Ohio on March 18, 1931 the daughter of Norman A. and Nancy J. (Grossman) Gillette.
She was a 1949 graduate of Howland High School, a 1952 graduate of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and a 1983 graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse serving at the Howland Schools for over twenty years. Bea and Earl lived in Howland until 1986 when they moved to a 47 acre farm in Liberty Township. The B & E Farm became their home until they move back to Howland in 2021. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working on their farm, flower and vegetable gardening, baking and cooking. She loved to go golfing, bowling and playing cards with her longtime friends. She was a member of the Howland Community Church, a deaconess and Sunday School teacher. Bea was an honorary member of the Niles Rotary Club where her husband is a fifty-plus year member. She was also the recipient of a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.
Bea is survived by her husband, Earl M. Stiver whom she married on December 26, 1953; four daughters, Jane (John) Walters of Howland, Barbara (James) Kooser of Shaker Heights, Mary Stiver of Fowler, Diane (Spencer) Schwartz of Waldorf, Maryland; four grandchildren, Sarah Faller, Michael Kooser, Kate (Ben) Swope, Gregory (Maggie) Schwartz; and two great grandchildren Kody Bingham, Abel McKnight. She was preceded in death by her brothers Norman, James, William, Charles Gillette and sister Marybelle Myers.
Calling Hours will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Howland Community Church 198 Niles- Cortland Road SE Warren, Ohio 44484. The Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Rev. Erica L. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
