Brian K. Cross, 59, passed away surrounded by family Thursday August 24, 2023 at the University Hospital in Cleveland following a short illness. He was born in Warren, Ohio on April 24, 1964 the son of adoring parents Milton B. and Pauline (Clay) Cross.
Brian was a 1982 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and honorably served in the United States Marine Corp. After working thirty years at the City of Warren Water Department, he retired in 2013.
Brian held many titles. We lovingly called him "Dad." His friends called him "Bri." However, his most favorite name was "Poppy." He cherished the time spent with his grandson Jackson. We could always find them sharing Swedish Fish, spending time in the park, or practicing their aim pulling the triggers of their BB guns. In the summers, there was a beach trip to the Atlantic Ocean. In the fall, of course, you could find us all together watching the Cleveland Browns.
Brian is survived by his wife and best friend of 34 years, Susan (Mayne) Cross; daughter, Stephanie Pappas of Warren; son, Nicholas Cross of Warren; grandson, Jackson Pappas; two sisters, Debbie (Roy) White of Aiken, South Carolina, Nora Cross of Niles; brother, Doug (Theresa) Cross of Cortland; mother-in-law, Delores Stimac of Paw Paw, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 29, 2023 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Prior to the service friends may visit with the family from 9 to11 a.m. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Newton Falls with Military Honors.
