Carolyn Sara Lynch, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday February 24, 2023 at the St. Joseph Health Center. Carolyn was born in Manhattan, New York on March 29, 1933 the daughter of Jacob and Felicia (Charmatz) Nussbaum. Carolyn was a graduate of Hunter High School and CUNY Hunter College in New York City and was an active member of their Alumni Associations.

As a proud Democrat, Carolyn enthusiastically campaigned for her party. She worked for U.S. (D-NY) Representative Jonathan Bingham, and on many campaigns to elect local, state and national leaders in New York, New Jersey and Ohio.

She was active in service to her community, local schools, was an advocate for those in need and fought for the rights of juveniles in the court system. During that time, they volunteered at the Hopatcong Food Bank where they collected thousands of pounds of food for their community. Carolyn was also a past president of the League of Women Voters, Sussex Highlands Chapter.

Carolyn loved a cigarette, black coffee, a stiff drink, a classic movie, a nice piece of cake and a good conversation. An avid believer in education, she supported her children and grandchildren in their academic pursuits. She never lost her love of learning and regularly completed the New York Times crossword puzzle, in ink.
