NILES - Catherine V. Pitzer 92, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday February 14, 2021 at the Windsor House in Champion. She was born in Center Township - Indiana County, Pennsylvania on November 6, 1928 the daughter of Anthony and Genevieve (Blatnik) Verhosek. She was a 1946 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and retired in 1991 after working 35 years as an inspector at the Packard Electric Company. Catherine was a member of St. Stephen Church and enjoyed family birthday's and holiday's, babysitting grandkids, Sunday and holiday masses, sewing, cooking, traveling, visiting casinos, watching TV and doing word search puzzles. Catherine is survived by a daughter, Marcia (Randy) Cohen of Youngstown; three sons, Donald (Darlene) Pitzer II of Warren, James Pitzer and fiance' Sharon Kurtz of Austintown, John (Pattie) Pitzer of Cortland; five grandchildren, Sean (Amy) Harrison of McDonald, Shannon (Keith) Hunter of Irwin, Pennsylvania, Zachary Pitzer of Austintown, Karlie Pitzer of Austintown, Emily Marie (Brendan Moulton) Pitzer Ph.D. of Durham, North Carolina; ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald K. Pitzer whom she married on October 25, 1952 and who died on August 19, 2002; four sisters, Rose Smith, Miss Mary Brozick, Sophie Hussan, Miss Emma J. Verhosek; five brothers, Ed Verhosek Sr., Al Verhosek, Frank Brozick Sr., Rudy Verhosek, William Verhosek.
Service of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday February 17, 2021 at the Holeton - Yuhasz Funeral Home with Deacon Frank Marino. Burial was in St. Stephen Cemetery.
