Clara Echols Obituary

MINERAL RIDGE - Clara B. Echols, 92, passed away peacefully at 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Humility House, Austintown, following an extended illness. Clara was born in Coeburn, Virginia on December 18, 1928 the daughter of Grady E. and Mae (Phillips) Horne and came to this area many years ago.
Clara was a 1940 graduate of Coeburn High School and was very active at the Niles First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the church and volunteered for the Rotary lunches, funeral dinners and many other church activities. Clara was employed for many years for the RMI Credit Union and the former Hills Department Store. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, was an excellent baker, enjoyed quilting and gardening. Clara had a fondness for growing roses. She could cultivate the ground with her hands, divide and start new rose bushes many times over.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Echols whom she married May 12, 1951 and he died October 26, 2012, brother Everette Horne, three sisters, Mary H. Collins, Lois Jette, and Mae Ellen Richardson. Clara is survived by her only daughter, Tracy and husband Jerry Butcher of Mineral Ridge, grandson, Joshua Butcher of Pittsburgh and several extended relatives.
Funeral services will be held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 with Rev. Gary Rozier officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service privately at Kerr Cemetery. Clara's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to each and every staff member at Humility House for their professionalism, care, and love during her residence at the nursing home.
Material contributions may be made to the Smile Force fund at Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown.
