Diane Sava Obituary

HOWLAND - Diane J. (Rogers) Sava, 71, formerly of Niles, returned to her Savior on Friday July 27, 2018 at 11:20 p.m. at the Hospice House in Poland after a six year battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. She entered this world on May 9, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio the first child of Charles Frederick and Adeline Mae (DeJute) Rogers. Diane grew up in Niles, graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1965 and was a member of St. Stephen Parish. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael Sava soon after graduating on July 3, 1965. Diane and Mike recently celebrated the 53rd anniversary! Their love brought into the world three precious children, Michael (Ely) Sava of Atlanta, Georgia, Sherri Sava of Scottsdale, Arizona, Derek (Christie) Sava of Lakewood, Colorado. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jake Sava, Ryan Sava, Kylie Sava; three sisters, Cheryl (John) Maiorca of Niles, Suzanne (Ron) Wysenski of Sandusky, Elaine Rogers of Oberlin; two sisters-in-law, Angela Semple of Niles, Helen Calkins of Niles; brother-in-law, Steve and Mary Sava of Niles; aunt, Dorothy Manchester of Niles and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David Allen Rogers, Charles A. Rogers; her aunts, Mary Miller, Rosalyn Cairns, Margaret Williams. She was also preceded by her loving in-laws, Steve and Marie Sava.
Diane converted to the Morman Faith in 2004, a member of the Warren, Ohio Ward. She did so as a result of a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and a belief that our mortal journey is simply a testing ground to prove our love for our Heavenly Father through the love, charity and compassion we show to others. Diane returned to the Catholic Faith in 2016 as a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Niles. Diane never met a stranger; she was immediately liked or loved by anyone who met her! She was well known for helping anyone in need, putting together family gatherings, and her amazing cooking! She was an adoring, nurturing mother - her #1 priority - as well as the greatest wife.
Diane and Mike lived in five different states during their 53 year marriage, returning to Trumbull County area after 38 years, by choice, to be closer to family and to give their children and grandchildren the gift of her hometown roots. Diane was involved in many volunteer activities with family, church, school and community throughout her lifetime. Later, after raising all of her children, she worked for Sprint Telecom for 13 years. Most recently she volunteered for the Guardian Angels program under the Trumbull County Court system serving the Youngstown Developmental Center in Liberty, where her sister Elaine resided for 31 years.

Calling Hours will be Friday, August 3, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where the Mt. Carmel bereavement ministry will have a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church preceded by a 9:30 a.m prayer service at the funeral home. Rev.
