Donald Richard Hodges, 77, passed away peacefully at 10:14 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Select Specialty Hospital, St. Elizabeth Health Center following an extended illness.
Donald was born in Warren, Ohio on March 24, 1946 the son of Bernard and Ina (Grimm) Hodges and lived in Trumbull County all his life. Don was a Howland High School graduate and of the Christian faith. He was a Marine veteran during the Vietnam War.
He retired in 2014 as a service attendant for the Shell Oil Company, North Road Gas Station where he was employed for ten years. In his lifetime he had several various other jobs and was an avid car buff and NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoyed listening to music and enjoyed history reading and politics.
Don is survived by his wife, Linda Fairbanks Hodges whom he married on September 21, 1979: eight children, Donald Hodges II of Campbell, Shawn Hodges of Warren, Lena Hodges of Campbell, Jennifer (John) Bain of Gibson City, Illinois, Pearl (Aaron) Rassette of Garden City, Kansas, Gabriel (Tricia) Hodges of Grovetown, Georgia, Joseph Hodges of Boardman, Michelle Hodges of Niles, seventeen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, two grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Nicole Hodges and sister, Marylee Denovchek.
A Memorial service will be at noon on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles. The Rev. Douglas Brown will officiate. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m to noon at the funeral home.
