NILES - Douglas Lee Voithofer, 72, died at 12:26 a.m. in the emergency room of Saint Elizabeth Medical Center Belmont Avenue on Monday, October 4, 2021 following a heart attack suffered at home. Douglas was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on August 20, 1949 the son of Thomas and Juanita (Jones) Voithofer and came to Niles at a young age.
Doug graduated from Niles McKinley High School and retired following over 20 years of service as an engineer for Conrail Railroad. He enjoyed walking his dogs, traveling to Las Vegas and New York City to attend the Yankees baseball games.
Douglas is survived by a daughter, Rachel Voithofer with whom he lived, son, Tyson (Julie) Voithofer, brother, Thomas (Donna) Voithofer, and nephew, Wolfgang (Amy) Voithofer all of Niles.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home Funeral services will be held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Rev. Douglas Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
