Edith V. "Vi" Febinger, 90, passed away on Monday morning March 18, 2024 at her home. She was loving cared for by her daughter, Arlene and grandchildren, Mathew and Margie for the last eight years. She was born in Scottdale, Pennsylvania on June 9, 1933 the daughter of Lawrence E. and Edith M. (Thomas) Hawk.
At an early age she worked at the Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale to support her family. Vi loved to travel with her husband "Punchy" and following his retirement they visited all fifty states. She enjoyed coloring, playing boardgames and crocheting. She made beautiful crocheted doilies and loved giving them to her family and friends.
Vi is survived by a daughter, Arlene Fyock of Niles; grandchildren, Mathew Fyock of Niles, Margie Styers of Niles, Brandon Fyock of Ashtabula, Michelle Fyock of Ashtabula; three sisters, Minnie (Henry) Gowatski of Smithton, Pennsylvania, Helen Pirl of Rockwood, Pennsylvania, Linda King of Somerset, Pennsylvania; daughter, Debbie James; son, Louis D. Febinger Jr. and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 62 years, Louis D. "Punchy" Febinger Sr. whom she married on May 14, 1955 and who died on January 28, 2018; three brothers, Vernon Hawk, Jim Hawk, Elmer Hawk and three sisters, Thelma Dukish, Mary Springer, Pauline Flynn.
A private funeral was held on Wednesday March 20, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Burial was in Niles City Cemetery.
