NILES - Elizabeth "Betty" (Kravec) Petrosky 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning March 25, 2021 at her home. She was born in Mineral Ridge, Ohio on September 3, 1927 the youngest child of John and Johanna (Sarisky) Kravec Sr. She was a 1944 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. Betty was a stenographer and worked for the government in Cleveland before returning to this area. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Church in Mineral Ridge, its Altar and Rosary Society where she held several offices and was also a member of the St. Mary's Women's Guild. She enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles, golfing, watching sports on tv and crocheting. She lovingly made an afghan for all her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Betty married First Lieutenant Joseph L. Petrosky an Army Air Force pilot on May 3, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2007 after 60 years of marriage. They spent their winters in Jupiter, Florida after his retirement in 1984.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Joan Petrosky of Niles; three sons, Kenneth (Sharon) Petrosky of Severna Park, Maryland, Richard (DeOnne) Petrosky of Niles, Gary (Mary) Petrosky of Crofton, Maryland; four grandsons, Michael (Precious) Petrosky, Gregory Petrosky, Brian (Jessa) Petrosky, Eric Petrosky; two great granddaughters Daisy and Caroline; brother in law, Eugene (Theresa) Petrosky of Champion and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers John Jr., Stephen, Dr. Francis, Joseph, Edward, Dr. Albert Kravec and three sisters Mary Kravec, Helen Hajdak and Margaret Kollar.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday March 27, 2021 at St. Mary's Church. Rev. Richard Murphy was the celebrant. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
