Emlyn "Lyn" Rider

Emlyn "Lyn" Rider, 93, passed away peacefully at 3:05 a.m. on Saturday October 15, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 12, 1929 the daughter of Henry and Doris (Luther) Money.

Lyn graduated in 1947 from Youngstown South High School. She was an active member and deacon of the First United Presbyterian Church of Niles, where she participated in many of the womens groups. For over twenty years she worked first at the Trumbull County Board of Elections, followed by her position at the Clerk of Courts office for the Warren Municipal Court. She retired in 1990. Lyn was an excellent golfer who played well into her eighties. She passed the love of the game on to her sons and many grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player throughout her adult life. Lyn was an active volunteer and past president for the Lincoln Elementary School PTA where her children attended. She was remembered as the best "pick-a-pocket" lady at the Lincoln School Fair.

Lyn treasured the love of her close-knit family, and is survived by six children, Thomas (Stephanie) Rider of Bonita Springs, FL, Barbara (Jeffrey) Wood of Marysville, OH, Carol (Arno) Hill of Lordstown, OH, James (Jennifer) Rider of Howland, OH, Cynthia (David) Adams of Williamsville, NY, Nancilee Rider and Rik Peake of Alameda, CA; 12 grandchildren, Megan Rider, Lindsay Rider, Elizabeth Wood, Jessica (Christopher) Costic, Kerry McCormick (Carrie Gibson), Katie (Brent) Ness, Peter Rider, Matthew Rider, Thomas (Molly) Rider, Aaron Adams, Haley (Ethan) Quinn, Michael Aller and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard "Pete" Rider Jr. whom she married on April 16, 1950 and who died on June 26, 2014; grandson, Kevin D. McCormick; brother, Dale Money and sister, Carolyn Glay.

Calling hours will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday October 23, 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
