Gary M. Walters

Gary M. Walters, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, June 16, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness. Gary was born in Warren, Ohio on July 17, 1934 the son of Howard H. and Myrtle (Fitch) Walters.

Following his high school graduation, Gary studied Computer Programming in Youngstown and pursued a Business degree at Kent State University. Afterwards, he pursued a career in finance and accounting at the Cleveland Great Lakes Construction Company and eventually founded Gary Walters Trucking Company, working daily until the age of 73. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving in Okinawa. His true love was race cars and his family was in the race car business all of his adult life. He constructed, maintained and drove race cars throughout the area and received many awards and trophies. He also cherished the family gatherings and activities, especially the summer family vacations.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary C. Burke Walters whom he married on April 4, 1959; four daughters, Shannon (Joseph) Moro of Niles, Dana Savric of Florida, Heather Walters of Florida, Bridget (John) Ferraro of Windemere, Florida; son, Gary T. (Kathy) Walters of Howland; four grandchildren; Patrick (Laura) Moro, Bridget Savric, Marisa (Larry) Sussman, Mia Walters; great grandson Mateo Moro; nephew, Dennis (Karen) Walters and niece, Sharmayne (Frank) Sericola. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Howard V. (Nook) Walters who died unexpectedly many years ago.

At Gary's request, private services will be announced by the family. There are no calling hours.
