Gary "Bones" Mowen Obituary

Gary "Bones" Mowen, 77, passed away at 7:04 p.m. on Thursday April 25, 2024 at the Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge following a long illness. He was born in Alliance, Ohio on May 8, 1946 the son of Robert E. and Martha (Thorn) Mowen.

He was a 1965 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and worked for over 38 years at General Motors in Lordstown. He was an Uncle Sam impersonator for many GM functions, parades, festivals and fundraisers. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, being with his ABATE friends, gardening and watching WWE wrestling on television.

Bones is survived by his wife of 41 years Deborah A. "Debbie" Orwig Mowen whom he married on October 31, 1983; son, Mark Mowen of Bovard, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Gina (Chad) Beckwith of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Amber Mowen of Niles; four grandchildren Bella, Ava, Jordan and Kai. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Mowen and brother-in-law, David T. Orwig III who died in Vietnam.

The Funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Douglas Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
