Inez Jean Penick, 87, passed away at 9:29 a.m. on Saturday March 25, 2023 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Howland. Inez Jean was born in Cherry Valley, Ohio on September 17, 1935 the daughter of John and Mildred (Carlson) Barlow.
For many years she was a head cashier and office manager at Fazio Grocery Store and she retired as the manager of the Hallmark Store in the Eastwood Mall. She was an active member in the American Sewing Guild, Niles Chapter. Inez and her husband Bill enjoyed spending each fall, for over 50 years, at a cabin in Cooks Forest with their whole family. She was an avid ceramics creator, vegetable gardener, excellent cook and preserved food from the garden.
Inez is survived by a son, Brian (Marjorie) Penick of Niles; four grandchildren, Nicole Penick of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Christine (Frank) Pilato of Uniontown, Kayla (David) Mounce of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Brian J. (Rachel) Penick of Warren; nine great grandchildren, Cosmo, Wayne, Aeydin, Shea, Collin, Giada, Guillana, Giacomo, Oliver; great great grandson, James. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Penick whom she married on May 4, 1957 and who died on September 9, 2010; son, Mark D. Penick who died in May 1999; two sisters, Elvira Lipps, Gladys Hopkins; two brothers, Alvin and James Barlow.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday April 1, 2023 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
