Irene Haydu Obituary
NILES - Irene Esther Haydu, 87, passed away peacefully at 9:30 pm Monday February 3, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Mercer, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1926 the daughter of Andrew and Susana (Nagy) Bochy and moved to Niles in 1947.
During World War II she worked at Packard Electric and Westinghouse Electric. She was a member of St. Stephen Church and enjoyed flower gardening, animals, especially rescuing and fostering cats. Most of all she loved her grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them. They have created memories that will never be forgotten.
Irene is survived by a son, William A. (Linda) Haydu Jr. of Niles; two daughters, Linda (William) Parise of Niles, Cindy (Donald) Burlingham of Stafford, Virginia; seven grandchildren, William (Heather) Haydu, Michael (Toni) Haydu, Maria (Christopher) Michelmann, Megan (Curt) Beling, Christopher Parise, Eva Burlingham, Laura Burlingham; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Leah, Colin, Logan, Patrick, Vincent, Clark, Cate; sister, Julia Filson of Port Orange, Florida and brother, Joseph Bochy of Sharon, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Haydu Sr. whom she married on November 8, 1947 and who died on May 1, 2006; two sisters, Margaret Porkalab, Anna Swartz; three brothers Andy Bochy, Jim Bochy, Nick Bochy.
The funeral will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will officiant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church 129 West Park Avenue, Niles, Ohio 44446, Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market Street Youngstown, Ohio 44512, Cats Are People Too P.O. Box 1947 Warren, Ohio 44482.
