Irene Shirley Obituary
MINERAL RIDGE -The Lord called home Irene E. Shirley, 84 at 1:00 pm on Wednesday January 29, 2014 at Vista Care at the Ridge.
Irene was born in Mineral Ridge, Ohio on June 15, 1929 the daughter of Frank Henry and Mary Ann (Money) Gifford and lived in the Niles area her entire life. For many years, she was a housekeeper, elder care and child care provider. She was a member of the Niles Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church and a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed singing, flower gardening, reading and all the activities at her church. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
Irene is survived by four children, Dale (Karen) Shirley of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, Deborah (Jack) Bradley of Vienna, Pamela Workman and Mike Cline of Hubbard, Kimberly Coleman and fiancee Bryan Orr of Niles; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lloyd Shirley whom she married on November 12, 1955 and who died on November 17, 1976; three brothers, Howard, Cecil and Raymond Gifford and three sisters, twins, Viola and Helen Gifford and Verda Fusselman.
Calling hours will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, February 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Rohn Stearns and Pastor Allan McCracken will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
