Jean A. Tripodi, 84, passed away peacefully at 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday April 12, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness. Jean was born in Warren, Ohio on April 5, 1938 the daughter of John Francis and Agnes (Riley) Freel Sr.and has lived in this area all her life.
Jean was a 1956 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and following her graduation she was employed for several years at the Niles Machine and Welding Company where she met and dated her husband Joe and they were married on June 20, 1959. She was the former shared owner of the Dairy Queen on West Market Street in Warren and a devoted member of Saint Stephen Church. She enjoyed being with her family and all family activities, traveling to the casinos in Las Vegas, knitting, tatting, painting pictures and the challenge of her many puzzles.
Jean is survived by her children, Joseph A. Tripodi Jr. of Niles, Bob (Roberta) Tripodi of Medina, Cindy (Jeff) Perry of Niles, John Tripodi of Niles, Tim Tripodi of Niles, Dave (Janine) Tripodi of Niles and two grandchildren, Sherri (Michael) LaMonica of Niles and Jared Tripodi of Medina. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Anthony Tripodi Sr. who died December 23, 2011; daughter-in-law Roxann Tripodi and brother John Francis Freel Jr.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where the Saint Stephen Bereavement Ministry will have a 6:30 p.m. Monday evening prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Saint Stephen Church with the Rev. Richard Murphy officiating. Jean will be burial next to her husband at the Niles City Cemetery.
The family thanks the kind and compassionate care of Hospice of the Valley and request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley in her memory.
