Jeffery File Obituary

Jeffery Paul File, 60, left this mortal to put on immortality on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at the Sharon Regional Hospital and now stands in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jeff was born three months premature on August 24, 1962 the son of Paul James and Wilma Jean (Callihan) File. A lifelong resident of Vienna, Jeff graduated from Mathews High School in 1980. On September 22, 1990, Jeff married the love of his life Brenda Lee (Koehler) File. They spent 32 years of life together.

Jeff worked for his family business, File's Auto Wrecking and also spent 15 combined years as a football and baseball coach at his alma mater, Mathews High. Jeff always said that there was little in this life that he didn't do. He enjoyed motor sports, racing motorcycles and cars. He owned many street and dirt bikes. He played two seasons of semi-pro football, played several years of adult softball and flag football while sponsoring several teams of his own.

He spent nearly a decade as a Civil War reenactor with different units, while commanding his own for several battles. He participated in many anniversary events on historical battlefields and even served as part of background units for the movie Gettysburg in 1992. Jeff served as a Vacation Bible School and Sunday School teacher and was involved in other ministries at several Nazarene churches while also becoming a lay minister. He served five years as a member of the "Sons of Thunder" prison ministry softball team.

But of everything that he felt he had accomplished, he was most proud of his coaching career. One that began in 1981 after graduation as a varsity football coach for Bob Terlecky at Mathews. He then spent 26 combined years coaching varsity and junior high football and junior varsity baseball at Mathews High, little league football for the Mathews Little Mustangs and Vienna Pony league baseball summer league. He was also proud of the fact that he was able to coach multiple generations of father and sons during his tenure.

His most important work was trying to introduce others to Jesus Christ.

Jeff is survived by his bride of 32 years Brenda; a brother, Gregory S. (Brenda) File of Vienna; his loyal companion dog Blizzard and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents in October of 2019.
