JoAnn Gregory

JoAnn Gregory, 75, peacefully went Home to rest with family and friends on Tuesday morning January 30, 2024 at the Hospice House in Poland surrounded by her loving family. She began her life journey in Elliott County, Kentucky on November 30, 1948 the daughter of Harrison and Amy G. (Wagoner) Creech.

JoAnn left her job at General Electric Niles Glass Plant to become a full time wife and mother. "Mamawl" was the family cook who embraced her southern heritage, making the best soup beans, cornbread and biscuits this side of the Ohio River. JoAnn always had a meal for anyone who needed one; all were welcome. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, scrapbooking and making quilts. Above all, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, first as their playmate and then, as they got older, their confidant. Her unconditional love and support could be felt at the numerous dance competitions, academic award assemblies, band concerts and art shows that she strived to never miss.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Glen L. Gregory Sr. whom she married on November 21, 1967; daughter, Anita (Chris) Madura of Niles; son, Glen L. (Kristie) Gregory Jr. of Howland; three grandchildren, Justin Madura, Olivia Madura, Presley Gregory; sister, Carolyn (Robert) Smith of Boardman; brother, Glen Creech of McDonald and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lucille S. Oakley, Olive M. Cline, Bonnie Wilson, Aline Tackett; and three brothers, John Creech, Denny Creech, Jackie Creech.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday February 2, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at noon at the funeral home with Rev. Garey McCartney officiating. Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery.

JoAnn had a big heart and donated to many charities, however, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was her favorite. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
