Joan C. Garvin

Joan C. Garvin , 91, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the O'Brien Memorial Health Care Center, Masury following an extended illness. Joan was born in Warren, Ohio on November 22, 1932 the daughter of Roy and Cora (Phillips) Dailey and lived in this area all her life.

Joan was a Niles McKinley High School graduate and attended the Niles First Church of the Nazarene with her husband Mirl. She retired in 1992 following 26 years as an inspector with the Mahoning Glass Plant of the General Electric Company. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steel books and having lunch with her family and friends. Joan cherished the family activities with her children and grandchildren.

Joan is survived by two daughters, Pam Steinbeck of Niles, Lori Sliwinski of Austintown; five grandchildren, Amy (Adam) Barnett of Girard, Rebecca (Ryan) Holland of Rickman, Tennessee, Megan Steinbeck of Niles, Nicholas (Rory) Infante of Dayton, Abbey Sliwinski of Austintown; five great grandchildren, Ben and Nathan Barnett of Girard, Ryan Vincent of Dayton, Gage and Gavin Holland of Rickman, Tennessee.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Mirl E. Garvin Jr. whom she married August 18, 1951 and who passed away May 29, 1993; a daughter Vicki Lynn Garvin who died in 1952 and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour before the services. The Rev. Douglas Brown will officiate. Joan will be buried privately, next to her husband, in the Niles City Cemetery on Monday morning.
