Juanita Nickell Obituary

Juanita R. Nickell, 93, passed away peacefully into the hands of her Savior at 6:42 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the residence. Juanita was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on April 1, 1929 the daughter of Robert and Mary (Howard) Holbrook Sr. and the last of eleven children. Juanita worked at the Ravenna Arsenal, The Ohio Leather Works for 17 years and retired from the General Motors Company as a line worker following 20 years of faithful service.

She was a 1947 graduate of South Eastern High School. After her retirement, she and her precious husband Cledith R. Nickell resided in Florida for eight years before moving back to Berlin Center, Ohio to be close to her family. Cledith preceded her in death in 2010 and she then moved with her daughter Debbie at her Lake Milton home.

Juanita was truly a gem, one of a kind and a ray of sunshine to all that knew her and this mold has truly been broken by her passing. We always felt that we were safe surrounded by mom's daily prayers concerning us all. Juanita was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and her great-great-grandson Logan who was born in 2021.

Juanita was blessed with a beautiful voice and enjoyed playing her organ and singing hymns at the Evening Light Apostolic Church where she was an active longtime member. The song that was her favorite and that she played and sang the most at church and at home was "I'm a Child of the King". She loved her church family and especially Pastor Darrell whom she talked about to anyone who would listen as to how wonderful he was. Her faith in God was staunch, loyal and forever. Juanita always welcomed the newcomers to the church with kind words and instantly formed a strong bond with her compliments.

Juanita is survived by two daughters, Debbie Berry of Lake Milton, Carla (Robert) Monoski of Canfield; son, Ronald S. (Rae) Nickell Sr. of Berlin Center; nine grandchildren: Angel (Jake Willis) Wilson, Cristal (Dave Lowry) Antal, Tisa (Leon) Ewing, James (Lesley Maze-Miracle) Berry Jr., Heather (Joseph Smith) Monoski, Robert Monoski III, Ronald (Aly) Nickell Jr., Joseph Nickell, Laura Lee Marshall; 12 great-grandchildren Madison, Miranda, Colton, Kenley, Angelina, Stephen, Austin, Cody, Samantha, Keira, Connor, Alyssa and one great-great-grandson Logan.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Cledith whom she married December 3, 1948; son Larry Lee Nickell who died February 28, 1979; son-in-law James Berry Sr.; great-grandchild Tyler; six brothers, Robert Holbrook Jr., Sterling Holbrook, Matt Holbrook, James Holbrook, Cecil Holbrook, Earsel Holbrook, and sister, Nada Cline.

We have all lost a beautiful icon, yes we are grieving, but we will work very hard to be reunited with our precious mother, grandma and GG once again, and we will all pray our beautiful memories will sustain us. "We Love You Mom".
