Karen J. Zavasnik

HOWLAND TOWNSHIP- Karen Jayne Zavasnik, 79, passed away peacefully at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Karen was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 5, 1942 the daughter of Howard L. and Jayne (Rader) Olson. Karen was a 1961 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of the Niles First United Methodist Church. She was employed for over 20 years for the Internal Revenue Service as a management supervisor for the federal government. In her youth she was a marble champion for the City of Niles Recreation Department. Karen enjoyed playing tennis and watching the many tennis tournaments on television especially Wimbledon.
Karen is survived by a son, David Zavasnik of Oswego, Illinois, two grandchildren, Kathleen and Zachary Zavasnik both of Lakeland, Florida, sister, Sondra (Allen) Woodhouse of Bloomington, Indiana, several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Olson and sister, June Rae Braun who died September 15, 2021.
At her request, a private service will be held for the immediate family. Burial will be with her parents at Kerr Cemetery.
