Lawrence H. Doherty

NILES - Lawrence H. Doherty, 85, died after a long illness at 9:40 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Hospice House, North Lima. Lawrence known by many as "Fuzz" was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on June 16, 1936 the son of William H. and Margaret Winley Doherty.
Lawrence was employed for General Motors for many years and was a self employed dry will finisher. He was a member of the South Shore Church of the Nazarene in Kentucky.He was a Marine veteran serving from July 28, 1953 to July 27, 1956. He enjoyed family gatherings with family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Fitch Doherty of Niles whom he married October 27, 1956, three daughters, Jackie (James) Linton of Portsmouth, Barbara Darby of Niles, Karen Doherty of Warren, one son, Larry Doherty of Niles, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Bill (Brenda) Doherty of Scotsdale, Arizona, John (Kathy) Doherty of Gilbert, Arizona, and Marshall Doherty of Ocala, Florida.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanie Doherty, son, William Doherty, two sisters, Mary Pennington and Betty Doherty. At his request, private services were held and there are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are by the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles.
