Lawrence Heltzel Obituary

Lawrence J. Heltzel, 73, died peacefully at 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Cortland Health Care Center following a long illness. Larry was born in Warren, Ohio on August 11, 1948 the son of Robert E. and Mary Jane (Hazzard) Heltzel Sr. and has lived in the Trumbull County area all his life.

Mr Heltzel attended Saint Stephen Grade School in Niles, graduated from Gilmour Academy, Cleveland in 1966 and Saint Louis University. He was of the Catholic faith and retired president of the Helco Steel Company, Warren. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge and sailing with family and close friends.

Larry is survived by a son, Patrick Heltzel; daughter, Grace Heltzel; sister, Mary Jo (Ken) Richards of Geneva on the Lake; brother, Michael (Barb) Heltzel of South Euclid; three sisters-in-law, Rosemary Heltzel, Heidi Heltzel, Judi Heltzel, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers: Mark E. Heltzel, Paul E. Heltzel, Robert E. Heltzel Jr., and Carl C. Heltzel.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

The family requests that material contributions be made in his memory to Southern Care Hospice, 970 Windham Court, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
