Marlene Kuhn Obituary

Liberty Township - Marlene Anne Kuhn, 90, passed away peacefully at 12:51 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Joseph Hospital in Warren. She was born in Warren, Ohio on July 6, 1931 the daughter of Marlin H. and Marguerite (Maloney) Craley of Niles, Ohio.

Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Kuhn on April 7, 1951 and their 'crush' turned into a marriage that spanned over 70 years! During that time they raised four sons. She was an avid fan at their sporting events, and rarely missed an opportunity to support her boys. Encouraging her children to pursue a higher education was a priority.

Marlene possessed a sharp intellect and loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She was proud of her Irish heritage and had a beautiful singing voice. Over the years she authored many of her own poems. Her collection, mostly about the joys and challenges of motherhood, demonstrated a keen sense and understanding that although motherhood is a timeless role, time spent raising children is fleeting and precious. She continued to embrace her role as the family matriarch and was adored by all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Marlene was a 1949 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a lifelong member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles. For many years she was a cook at Garfield School in Niles.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Joseph John Kuhn Sr. and four sons, Joseph (Cathie) Kuhn Jr. of North Ridgeville, Thomas (Carol) Kuhn Sr. of Warren, Richard (Jodi) Kuhn of Prosper, Texas, Kenneth (Mary) Kuhn of Warren; twelve grandchildren, Tom (Julie) Kuhn Jr., Eddie (Mandy) Kuhn, Nic Grabosky, Julia (Zack) Robey, Maddie (Austin) Jones, Tyler (Michelle) Kuhn, Abbey (Cliff) Mo, Beau (Tara) Kuhn, Dylan Kuhn, Emma Kuhn and twins Aly Kuhn, Ryan Kuhn: ten great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Craley who died on July 8, 2000.

A private Service of Christian Burial was held on Saturday afternoon January 29, 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles. Burial was in St. Stephen Cemetery.
