Mary Elizabeth Holbrook

NILES - Mary Elizabeth Holbrook 88, passed away peacefully at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday January 1, 2019 at her daughter's home where she resided after an extended illness. She was born in Globe, Kentucky on December 3, 1930 a daughter of Tony and Bertha (Collins) Stephens. Mary was a custodian for the Niles City School System, retiring on November 1, 1990. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and gambling. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her family and extended family. Mary was the "Caregiver to All" and is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (James) Sarber with whom she made her home; son, John P. Holbrook Sr. of Niles; seven grandchildren, Joe (Laura) Zucco, Felicia (Brian) Williams, Jessica Sarber, John P. Holbrook Jr., Thomas J. Holbrook Sr., Christopher Holbrook, Heaven Lee Holbrook; eight great grandchildren, Brooke and Hannah Zucco, Tyler, Tristan, Emma Holbrook, Nathan Williams, Jaxon Holbrook, Thomas J. Holbrook Jr.; sister, Shirley Padilla of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brother-in-law, James P. Zucco of Niles. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Henery Holbrook whom she married in 1946 and who died December 30, 1977; two daughters, Carol Jean Madsen, Mary Alice Zucco; son, Henery Thomas Holbrook; granddaughter-in-law, Amy Zucco; two sisters, Doris Butler, Hazel M. Evans and four brothers, Junior, Bill, Charles, Jimmy Stephens. The family thanks Hospice of the Valley for their kind and compassionate care of Mary. Calling hours will be noon to 1:00 p.m. Friday January 4, 2019 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Darrell Cline officiating. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
