Michael Ratliff Obituary
CORTLAND - Michael E. Ratliff, 68, passed away peacefully at 11:50 am on Friday November 22, 2013 at the Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a three year battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Texas City, Texas on August 9, 1945 the son of Dial and Hazel (Crump) Ratliff.
Michael was an Unites States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He loved the challenge to build things and retired as a carpenter for the Coffman Construction Company in Arlington, Texas. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching television, especially cartoons and animated movies. Most of all he cherished the time spent playing with his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife Janet (Bowman) Ratliff whom he married on March 13, 1987; three daughters, Rhonda (Todd) Watkins of Iowa, Shonda (Anthony) Graner of Texas, Tonya (Samuel) Brown of Louisiana; five step-children, Dianne (Dr. John) Wassil of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kimberly (Shawn) Lustig of Arizona, Lisa (Charles) Burgess of Ohio, Tracy (Darl) Manks of Ohio, Mitchell (Heather) Green of Florida; 23 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Richardson, Peggie Preweitt, Belinda (Larry) Beard and two brothers, Darrell (Brenda) Ratliff, Bennie (Patricia) Ratliff all of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annette Coffman; two brothers, Ronnie and DJ Ratliff and a nephew, Benjie Ratliff.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor James Dittmar of the Warren Baptist Temple will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
